Women making a fashionable impact.
Women making a fashionable impact.
We strive to highlight the power of women and to inspire others to enact change. In order to accomplish our goals, we are partnering with an amazing organization whose mission is focused around empowering women: the Genesis Women's Shelter. This organization's actions toward and beliefs about the strength of women in society closely match those of our own. Our models will consist of Hockaday students from of all ages from pre-kindergarten to 12th grade, and, recently, our brothers at St. Marks School of Texas have partnered with us to model alongside the girls. They will be showcasing clothes on loan from Genesis' Thrift Store.
Our founders Emma Roseman and Varsha Danda saw the impact young women were able to make and hoped to spread that same ambition and motivation to others in their community. They started the Hockaday Nonprofit Fashion Show in 2019 to publicize their shared passion for women empowerment. Their first show, benefitting The Genesis Women’s Shelter and The Akola Project, raised over $1000 as well as generated significant and meaningful impact on the Hockaday community and beyond. In spring of 2020 co-chairs Zoe Cote and Inez Johnson further expanded the show and persevered despite COVID-19 regulations, generating even more money for The Genesis Women's Shelter and WiNGS. In partnership with the Institute for Social Impact and Hockaday's student-led business Sew Masks Save Doctors, co-chairs Leena Mehendale and Claire Cahoon made a similarly meaningful impact through their show. Avani Haden and Alexandra Crosnoe are excited to bring back the in-person fashion show on March 27, 2022 benefitting the Genesis Women's Shelter.
